Although you all know how the United States gained its Independence on 4th of July, not many know how the bikini was accepted into society. Even before the one piece was invented women wore dresses for bathing with tights underneath, which could be taken off for wading. It was not until around 1920 that the one piece bathing suit was created. Which later evolved into the bikini we know today.
